Plant Adapted Simulation System for the AOD Process

This system was developed for a leading international stainless steel group to aid in their process
design for the decarburization process. The system takes into account both thermodynamic and kinetic
aspects of the process and has drawn on research at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).

With the use of this system the process manager can optimize the decarburization process and
achieve the desired carbon content with minimal loss of alloying metals and improve the overall cost
efficiency. The system can be used as production tool but also for process design when developing
new steel qualities and thereby shorten the time to market for such products.
